Stable Results, Hard Truths, and A New Beginning Ahead đžâ¤ď¸
We headed back to Ohio for Wyattâs annual hospital visitâour most important check-in of the yearâand this time we brought an extra set of hands and heart with us⌠Ava. â¤ď¸
We have been making this trip every August since 2008, and itâs always a bit of a âhold your breathâ moment. I know what I see in Wyattâs physical abilities. I know he has progressed some, but it never feels like much. So getting confirmation that he only declined minimally on one of the upper-limb tests was a HUGE sigh of relief.
A different neurologist saw Wyatt today, and she was honestly floored by how strong his upper-limb strength is. I truly believe the Capricor trial is working!!! đđť
We got the final cardiac MRI results, and we were very happy with them. His ejection fraction actually went UP 2%, so he is STABLE, and there is no change in the scar. His cardiologist didnât want to adjust anything, which is another big sigh of relief. â¤ď¸
His lung function has decreased some, so we came home with some homeworkâmostly getting him to wear his BiPAP at night, which is always a struggle. We have a plan in place, and weâre hopeful it will help.
This trip, we did things the same way we always haveâflying to Columbus (2 flights), renting a van, lifting Wyatt into the front seat, and loading his travel chair into the back. But itâs definitely getting harder for me to do all of that on my own. Soooo, Iâm waving the white flag. Iâm going to stop flying without Patrick or Wynston.
Iâve already torn my rotator cuff, and now Iâm dealing with tendinitis. I need to take care of myself so I can continue taking care of Wyatt at home. So next year, we will drive⌠just like Patrick said I should have done this year. đ
Sometimes I still think Iâm Superwoman and can do it all, but this trip was a reality check. Itâs not good for me, and itâs not safe for Wyatt. As hard as it is to admit I canât do everything, I know this is the right call.
And now for the REALLY exciting news⌠đžâ¤ď¸
Wrigleyâs trainer has found a dog she believes will be a perfect fit for Wyatt. Wrigley is TIRED and ready to transition into retirement. As many of you know, service dogs are incredibly specialâthey are not cheap, but they are worth their weight in GOLD.
We met him on Sunday, and the connection between him and Wyatt was instant. One of those moments where you just KNOW. đĽš
So be on the lookout over the next few weeks because weâll be doing a fundraiser to help with the cost of getting LEX fully trained. We are so excited about the possibility of this new furry friend joining our crew sometime in late 2027. đśâ¤ď¸
For now, we are celebrating STABLE. We are celebrating strength. We are celebrating another trip in the books.
And most of all, we are celebrating Wyatt and the fight he continues to show us every single day. â¤ď¸
